Looking for a family photographer in Watercolor Florida? Shelley B Photography does beautiful beach and nature sessions in Watercolor and along the 30A corridor.
Watercolor is one of the most naturally beautiful communities along 30A. Nestled between Western Lake — one of the rare coastal dune lakes that give 30A its unique ecological character — and the Gulf of Mexico, Watercolor has a lush, organic quality that feels different from the more architectural communities like Rosemary Beach and Seaside. The natural dune vegetation, the lake access, the wide protected beach — it's a setting that produces some of the most organic and beautiful family photography on the entire Florida Panhandle.
We love shooting in Watercolor. Here's what sessions here look like.
The Gulf beach in Watercolor is wide, white, and protected. The dune walkover provides beautiful natural framing, and the beach here tends to be quieter than some of the higher-traffic spots along 30A. For golden hour sessions — which is when we always shoot — the light comes in low and warm across the open water, with nothing between your family and the horizon.
The natural dune grasses and vegetation along the Watercolor beach give images a lush, layered quality that pure open-sand beaches can't match. We use the landscape throughout the session, positioning families in ways that let the environment become part of the image rather than just a backdrop.
One of the things that makes Watercolor unique is the access to Western Lake — the coastal dune lake that borders the community. The lake provides a completely different visual environment from the beach: calm water, reflected light, natural vegetation, a different kind of stillness. Sessions that incorporate both the beach and the lake area give families a genuine variety in their gallery.
Like the other 30A communities, Watercolor has beautiful architecture, pathways, and natural areas within the community itself. As golden hour shifts to dusk, the community settings offer a warm, inviting quality that transitions naturally from the beach.
Whether you're in a Gulf-front home, a townhome in the community, or a cottage near the lake, we'll be at your location when the light starts to shift. No driving, no logistics.
Both Shelley and Blaine photograph every Watercolor session together. In a location with this much variety — beach, lake, community — two photographers means we capture more of it simultaneously.
