Fort Morgan Beach Photographer: Secluded Gulf Coast Family Sessions

If you've ever stayed at Fort Morgan, you know exactly why families keep coming back. The peninsula stretches quietly between Mobile Bay and the Gulf, with wide-open beaches, gentle waves, and a pace of life that feels genuinely unhurried. It's the kind of place where kids run barefoot until dark and nobody checks their phone. And honestly? It's one of our absolute favorite places to photograph families.

I'm Shelley, and together with my husband Blaine, we photograph families all along the Alabama Gulf Coast — from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach all the way out to Fort Morgan. We bring our full two-photographer setup directly to you, whether you're staying in a beach house on the bay side, a condo on the Gulf, or anywhere in between.

Why Fort Morgan is Special for Family Photography

Fort Morgan has something the more developed parts of the Gulf Coast don't: space and quiet. The beaches here are less crowded, less developed, and more wild-feeling. You get long stretches of open sand without a condo tower in the background. The sunsets paint the sky in deep pinks and golds over the Gulf, and the bay-side light at golden hour is unlike anything else on this coastline.

For families, that means a more relaxed, intimate session. There's no jostling for space on a crowded public beach. It's just your family, the Gulf, and us.

We shoot every session on a Hasselblad medium format camera — 100 megapixels, the same system used by the world's top portrait photographers. On an open beach like Fort Morgan, where the sky and water stretch to the horizon, that resolution captures every detail with extraordinary richness. Your panoramic images will look incredible printed large.

We Come to You — No Driving, No Logistics

One of the things families love most about working with us is that we come directly to your vacation rental. You don't have to figure out parking, haul everyone across a crowded beach, or stress about logistics after a long day. We show up at your beach house or condo, ready to shoot, and your family just has to step outside.

This is especially valuable at Fort Morgan, where rental homes tend to have beautiful private beach access. We can shoot right on the sand behind your house, walk down to the waterline, and have the whole session feel like a natural extension of your vacation evening — not an interruption to it.

Two Photographers, One Golden Hour

Every session Shelley B Photography books includes two photographers: Shelley and Blaine. Shelley focuses on beautiful, timeless posed portraits — the kind where everyone looks their best and the family feels put-together and connected. Blaine works freely, moving around the group and capturing candid moments — the real laugh, the kid who just lost it over a wave, the quiet moment between grandparents watching the sunset.

The result is a gallery that feels complete. You get the frame-worthy portraits for the wall and the candid images that actually tell the story of the evening.

We also never double-book a sunrise or sunset. When you book a session with us, that golden hour belongs entirely to your family. We're not watching the clock because someone else is waiting — our only job is to make your session as beautiful as it can be.

Fort Morgan Family Sessions: What to Expect

Sessions typically begin about an hour before sunset, when the light starts turning warm and golden. We'll meet you at your rental and spend 60-90 minutes on the beach together.

We'll start with the full family — everyone together, with the Gulf as your backdrop. From there we'll work through different groupings: parents, kids together, individual families if you have extended family along, grandparents with grandkids. We keep it relaxed and fun throughout. No stiff posing, no counting to three. Just real moments, captured beautifully.

Your gallery includes both classic portrait-format images ready for printing in standard sizes and sweeping panoramic images that capture the full scale of the Fort Morgan coastline — perfect for large-format wall art that makes a statement in your home.

Planning Your Fort Morgan Photography Session

Fort Morgan is more remote than Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, which means we have fewer available dates out there — and they fill up quickly in summer. If you're planning a trip to Fort Morgan and want to add a session, reach out as early as possible.

We recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks in advance for summer sessions, and as early as possible for holidays like Fourth of July and Labor Day weekend.

When you reach out, let us know your rental dates and we'll find the best evening for the light and your family's schedule.

Published. Trusted. Local.

Shelley B Photography has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on the cover of Pensacola Magazine five times. We bring that same level of care and craft to every session — whether it's a family of four or a forty-person reunion on the Fort Morgan sand.

If you're heading to Fort Morgan this season, we'd love to meet you there.
