Looking for a family photographer in Blue Mountain Beach or Dune Allen Florida? Shelley B Photography does beautiful beach sessions on the western end of 30A.
The western end of the 30A corridor — Blue Mountain Beach and Dune Allen — is quieter than the more trafficked communities in the middle of the highway, and that's a genuine feature rather than a drawback. The beach access here is beautiful, the neighborhoods feel more residential and relaxed, and the stretch of Gulf shoreline is as stunning as anywhere along 30A.
Blue Mountain Beach sits at one of the highest points along the Florida Gulf Coast — the blue lupine wildflowers that bloom here in spring give it its name — and the elevated dunes give it a topography that's unlike anything else on the 30A corridor. The Dune Allen area just to the west is equally beautiful, with wide beach access and a more private character.
We photograph families throughout this stretch of 30A regularly, and sessions in Blue Mountain Beach and Dune Allen are some of our favorites.
Less crowded. Blue Mountain Beach and Dune Allen see significantly less foot traffic than Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and Watercolor. At golden hour, you're likely to have the beach largely to yourself — which means cleaner backgrounds, more natural energy, and a session that doesn't feel like you're competing with other beachgoers for space.
Natural elevation and dune character. The higher dunes and natural topography of Blue Mountain Beach create visual variety that flat, open beaches can't match. Working with the natural landscape — the dune ridgelines, the sea oat vegetation, the elevation changes — gives images a depth and dimension that's harder to achieve on lower-lying beaches.
True quiet. There's a particular peace to the western end of 30A that families who've stayed there come back for year after year. That energy shows up in sessions — people are more relaxed, kids are more natural, and the images reflect it.
Whether you're in a Gulf-front home, a cottage in the community, or a vacation rental a short walk from the beach, we'll come to you. No driving, no meeting somewhere. We show up at your location when golden hour begins.
We book one family per evening — so the entire golden hour window belongs to you. Both Shelley and Blaine photograph every session simultaneously, covering formal portraits and candid moments at the same time.
