Looking for a 30A family photographer? Shelley B Photography does beautiful beach and community sessions along 30A — Rosemary Beach, Seaside, Watercolor, Santa Rosa Beach, and beyond.
30A is one of those places that people visit once and spend the rest of their life trying to get back to. The combination of crystal-clear Gulf water, protected dune lakes, stunning New Urbanist communities, and some of the most beautiful beach on the Florida Panhandle creates an experience that's genuinely unlike anywhere else on the Gulf Coast.
We photograph families throughout the 30A corridor — Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Watersound, Seacrest, Seaside, Watercolor, Grayton Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Seagrove, and Santa Rosa Beach. Each community has its own character, and we love working with all of them.
The beaches. Much of the 30A shoreline is protected — state parks, conservation land, and coastal dune lake access mean a lot of the beach here is less developed than Destin and has a natural, pristine quality that's extraordinary in photos. The sand is the same quartz-white, the water the same emerald-clear, but there's a wildness and beauty to the setting that feels different from resort-area beaches.
The communities. Sessions at Rosemary Beach, Seaside, or Watercolor can incorporate the beautiful architecture, gardens, and streetscapes that make these communities so iconic. A family session that starts on the beach and moves into the pastel streets of Rosemary Beach tells a very different kind of story — and produces images that are uniquely beautiful.
The light. 30A faces south and southwest, which means golden hour light comes in at an angle that's particularly flattering for beach portraits. The open horizon means you can shoot almost directly into the sunset and let the light silhouette your family against the sky — one of the most dramatic and beautiful portrait styles we do.
Rosemary Beach is one of our favorite 30A communities for photography. The architecture, the courtyards, the boardwalks, the beach — there's enormous variety in a small area. We often start sessions on the beach during golden hour and transition into the community as the light fades, giving families a mix of classic beach portraits and something more architectural and unique.
The beach at Seaside and Watercolor is wide, white, and beautiful. The pavilion areas give interesting structural variety, and the dune access here is gorgeous. Watercolor in particular has some beautiful natural areas that make for stunning photography backdrops.
Santa Rosa Beach is a broad area encompassing much of the central 30A corridor, and it's where we spend a lot of our time on this stretch of coast. See our Santa Rosa Beach family portrait gallery for examples of what sessions look like across this area — families large and small, in the light that makes 30A so beautiful.
Whatever community you're staying in along 30A, we'll come to you. Gulf-front cottage in Rosemary Beach, Watercolor vacation rental, Seaside townhome — we'll be at your location when golden hour starts.
Contact us here with your 30A trip dates and where you're staying. We'll plan a session around your location and the best light of your visit.
