Planning an extended family reunion or multigenerational beach session on 30A? Shelley B Photography specializes in large group family portraits along the Florida Panhandle.
30A is one of the premier destinations in the Southeast for family reunions, and it's easy to see why. The beauty of the coast, the quality of the rental inventory, the variety of communities — it brings extended families back year after year. If your family is gathering on 30A and you want photographs that actually capture the whole group together, this is what we do.
Shelley B Photography specializes in extended family and multigenerational sessions along the 30A corridor — from Inlet Beach through Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seacrest, Seaside, Watercolor, Grayton Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, and Santa Rosa Beach.
It's a simple reality: one photographer can only be in one place at a time. During a large group session, that means constantly choosing between the formal group shot and the candid moment happening at the edges. You get one. You miss the other.
With both Shelley and Blaine photographing your session simultaneously, you don't have to choose. While one is directing the group and managing the formal portraits — spacing, sightlines, expressions — the other is capturing everything else. The grandmother watching her grandchildren with that particular look. The cousins who haven't seen each other in a year, collapsing into each other. The wide scene that shows the whole gathering in context, with the Gulf behind them.
Those are the images that become the most meaningful over time, and they only exist because someone was watching for them.
We approach larger sessions with more pre-planning than smaller ones. Before your session, we'll talk through:
Who's coming and what sub-groups you want. Most extended families want multiple combinations: the full group, the grandchildren, the immediate family units, the siblings. We'll map these out in advance and sequence them efficiently so we're not burning golden hour figuring out logistics on the fly.
Any accessibility needs. If anyone in the group has mobility limitations, we plan around that from the start — choosing spots that work for everyone, building in accommodations that make the session comfortable rather than stressful.
The location. For large groups on 30A, we tend toward beaches with more width and fewer people — Grayton Beach State Park, the quieter stretches of Santa Rosa Beach, or the beach access at your specific rental. We'll recommend the best option based on where you're staying and how many people you have.
Many extended family groups on 30A rent large beach houses specifically designed for multigenerational gatherings. We come to you — the session starts right where everyone is already gathered, with no logistics, no driving, no herding 20 people into cars before you've even started.
However large your group, you get the entire golden hour window to yourselves. We never book back-to-back sessions. The time and light belong entirely to your family.
